Possible motives for volunteering:

  • To help a good cause.
  • To improve self esteem.
  • To get out of the house.
  • To meet others and make new friends.
  • To gain new skills.
  • To be part of a group contributing to the community.
  • To exercise skills in a different context.

Sound familiar? There are many ways in which you can become a volunteer for St Andrews Hospice e.g. Welcoming visitors at our Reception, answering telephones, being a volunteer driver, providing Tea/coffee for our patients, relatives and visitors within our Dove Cafe, spending time chatting to patients, helping with lunch arrangements, activities and hairdressing within our Day Hospice, assisting within any of our six Hospice Shops, (Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Wishaw, Hamilton and Motherwell), Fundraising, Can Collecting and Lots More!

At St Andrew's Hospice we rely on over 300 volunteers to continue to provide the highest possible standard of Specialist Palliative Care to the people of Lanarkshire, without the commitment of these wonderful people we simply could not function.

We ask our volunteers to spare a few hours of their time on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis and where possible can fit the hours to suit the individual.

We also ask our Volunteers, who take up positions within the Hospice, to make themselves available to attend Bereavement/Spirituality Courses which are provided within the Hospice by our Education Staff.

We are currently looking for volunteers in the following areas:

  • Dove Cafe
  • Drivers
  • Shops

There is a particular need within our Bellshill and Hamilton Shops, so please give us a call if you can help out!
