Inpatient Unit

Our Inpatient Unit offers a comfortable environment for those patients that may benefit from receiving more specialist support from our team.

Patients are admitted to the Inpatient Unit for assessment and provision of specialist care. This may include pain and/or symptom management, multidisciplinary assessment, short term acute intervention, nursing care, rehabilitation or end of life care.

We have 21 single rooms, 2 family rooms and 1 shared room. Beds are allocated following multidisciplinary team assessment and discussion based on the completed referral form. Patients are placed on the waiting list and discussed daily. Admissions are planned Monday to Friday – in exceptional circumstances weekend admissions will be considered.

Each patient will be allocated a nursing team and consultant who will assess and plan individual person centred care in collaboration with the patient and their family and in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.

The nursing team are present providing holistic care 24 hours a day. A great deal of individual attention is possible through the high nurse to patient ratio; patients can be confident that their care will be delivered sensitively and effectively by an experienced team of professionals trained to give strong emotional support to both patients and their families.

The team meet regularly to evaluate the care delivered and respond to the changing needs of individuals and consideration of future care needs.

The Inpatient Unit is not a long term place of care.

In addition we provide a 24 hour telephone advice service to patients and healthcare professionals.
