Volunteer Receptionist

Area: Reception

Reporting To: Hotel Services Manager

Role Aim/Purpose:

To provide first class customer service to patients, visitors and staff of St Andrew’s Hospice.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet all visitors to St Andrew’s Hospice, ensuring everyone signs in and out, and help to create a comfortable, welcoming environment
  • Welcome patients and their relatives promptly, contacting the appropriate staff member to greet the patient
  • Ensure calls/enquiries are quickly and effectively passed to appropriate person/department
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with other Hospice departments
  • To be an ambassador for St Andrew’s Hospice in any dealings with staff, patients, relatives and visitors to the Hospice
  • Responsible for the control of monies in reception area, ensuring all Hospice policies and procedures for cash handling are adhered to
  • Support reception staff with Fire Warden duties
  • Handle difficult situations diplomatically
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of St Andrew’s Hospice
  • Ensure safe storage and management of Hospice keys
  • Ensure deliveries are received and distributed in accordance with procedures
  • Ensure procedures for samples and bloods are adhered to
  • Ensure postage is correctly applied and ensure mail is posted each evening
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, manual handling/risk assessment and fire safety training
