Andy Goram shows support for Capital Appeal
Former Rangers and Scotland goalkeeping legend Andy Goram showed his support for St Andrew’s Hospice at their recent Festive Fives football tournament.
Thirteen teams took part in the tournament at Soccerworld in Glasgow to raise funds for the Airdrie-based charity’s £9m Capital Appeal to reconfigure and refurbish the hospice.
The nail-biting final saw winning team ‘Boabie Dazzlers’ from RBS One Connect beat ‘Royally Sparkling’(a combination of RBS and Entrepreneurial Spark) in extra time.
Over £4,000 was raised through team entries, a raffle, Spot the Ball competition and Sports Quiz. The star attraction was Beat the Goalie – a chance to score past Andy Goram.
Andy said: “When I was coaching at Airdrie, I became aware of St Andrew’s Hospice and the essential work of the Capital Appeal to ensure the long term future of the Hospice. I was delighted to offer my help and look forward to helping this worthwhile cause in the future.”
Karen McFadyen, Capital Appeal Director, said: “We’d like to thank all of the teams who took part in our Festive Fives tournament in aid of our Capital Appeal. You were all great sports.
“Thank you also to Andy Goram and Jim Law from Find a Player for their time and effort and to event sponsors Lomond Wealth Management for their support. It’s greatly appreciated.”
