Iceland Trek: 27 June – 2 July 2017

Day 1
Glasgow -Keflavik -Landmannalaugar
We fly from Glasgow to Keflavik airport, from there we’ll transfer to Southern Highlands about 150 miles east of Reykjavik and will camp for the night at Landmannalaugar.. Before sleeping under the canvas we’ll take a dip in the hot springs!

Day 2
Landmannalaugar–Álftavatn (Approx. 9 hours trekking)
After breakfast we will climb up through the lava fields, pass steaming vents and snow fields. We will walk through fields of black opsidiumrock. Finally, we will descend to Álftavatn, where we will camp overnight.

Day 3
Álftavatn–Emstrur (Approx. 7 hours trekking)
Today we enter a glacial area with fast running glacial streams off the MyrdalsjokullIcecap. We will cross rivers by wooden bridges and wading through ice-cold streams! We will then climb down to the oasis Hvanngiland then trek across to the Emstrurhutwhere we camp for the night.

Day 4
Emstrur–Thorsmörk–Reykjavik (Approx. 8 hours trekking)
Our final days trekking starts with more river crossings, views of the amazing Markarfljótgorge and the bridged Ljorsafissure. The trek ends with a steep drop into the main valley of Thórsmörk. After the celebrations we will drive back to Reykjavik.Tonightthere will be a celebration meal in a restaurant in town before those with enough energy hit the local nightlife! Overnight hotel.

Day 5
Reykjavik
Today there will be free time to explore Reykjavik and enjoy a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon.

Day 6 Reykjavik –Glasgow
This morning we will make our flight home from Reykjavik to Glasgow.

Important: In registering, I am confirming my undertaking to raise the minimum sponsorship level of £200 non refundable deposit + £2,300 = Total £2,500 and remit all sponsorship money raised to St. Andrews Hospice as required. I declare that I am medically fit, I will be age 21 or over on the day of departure, I will abide by the instructions of the Event Group Leader and understand that I am entering entirely at my own risk.
