Tam Cowan and Amey launch Santa Dash

Football journalist and presenter Tam Cowan and Amey staff are encouraging St Andrew’s Hospice supporters to take part in the charity’s annual Santa Dash, Reindeer Run & Santa Cycle.

The 6km race takes place at 11am on 20 November at Strathclyde Park, along with a reindeer run for kids and a Santa Cycle over the same distance.

Hospice supporter Tam Cowan joined staff from the Bargeddie base of event sponsor Amey for the launch of registrations for the popular event.

He told the Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser: “St Andrew’s Hospice does a great job and costs over £80,000 per week to keep it running so the Santa Dash is really important.

“I’d normally be complaining about Christmas coming early like this but in this case, it’s a great idea and the hospice want as many people as possible to take part.”

Tam added: “I’m always happy to do anything for the Hospice. It’s a great place and I’ve been a supporter for more than 20 years.”

Last year’s Santa Dash saw 800 runners take part, raising £17,000 for the Hospice.

Adult participants will be provided with Santa suits to wear as they run, walk or cycle, while youngsters will receive reindeer antlers as part of the fun.

You can register to take part by completing our booking form on the Santa Dash, Reindeer Run & Santa Cycle event page.
